Rotorua Lakes High Visit
On September the 11th we went to Rotorua lakes high for an open day. It was a real cool day crammed packed with fun activates my personal favourite was pirates in the gymnasium. Pirates is a game of tag but mega sized with tones of obstacles to put you off. One person even climbed up the basketball hoops.
We went to the science lab and dissected a deer eye which was pretty cool. The deer lens was clear like glass and everything was upside down. In the lab we also played with dry ice and deer lungs.
We also did cooking were we made moulds for chocolate, languges we learnt greetings and maths we had to make a puzzle.
Over all I thought it was a great day and I enjoyed it.

Devon Intermediate Sports Exchange
On Monday 2nd of September Devon intermediate our sister/bother school from New Plymouth came on two buses to our school. They had a team of 77 there smallest team in the exchanges history but as Matua Del said it was there best 77. I took one billet, his name was Toby. On the first day we went for a swim in a natural hot pool that was heated geothermaly and the sand was super hot and so relaxing after that we headed to my mates place. At Finn's(my mates) we had a really nice dinner(his mum spent 3 years in cooking school)we had a BBQ with sausages and bread, real kiwi food, burgers with nice lamb patties, rissoles with herbs and my favorite chicken with a yummy marinade. The salads were soooooooooo good. For desert we had such a good pavlova. On Tuesday 3rd of September the sports began with an explosive start with B Ball, netball b team and girls soccer. The basket ball was a good game with Mokoia winning 68-26. Netball B team gave Mokoia a 2-0 lead on the cup winning 28-12. Girl soccer was an interesting game and it was sounding to good to be true Mokoia wining 1-0. As the day moved on Mokoia kept the steady flow of wins coming in with Netball yr 8 wining 39-8, Yr 7 A netball wining 28-5, boys soccer(which my billet played keeper) Mokoia won 2-1 and then there was rugby. We got smashed by Devon they won 68-23. In the end we won the exchange and we all had awesome fun and so did our billets over all it was a great 2 days.

Book review
Book vs. Movie Report
Alex rider crashes through the museum celling and pulled the
sensitive trigger sending bullets spraying in every direction hitting there marks as Herrod Sayle
crawled out of the scene as pale as a ghost.
Characters
Alex Rider- a 14 year old English school boy, blond hair, brown
eyes he’s the main character in the movie and book. He knows karate, climbing, scuba
diving and many more.
Hearod Salye- a evil rat who wants utter revenge on all of Brittan.
The Royal In General - The bank that doesn’t exist. A fancy place
with modern equipment. A grim team of staff.
Jack Starbright – An American house keeper who’s really cool
and loves Japanese food and culture.
Being of Book was the same really not much changed except it
shooting of Ian Rider. The middle was very different it had a whole new perspective
with the doszmary mine because it was right next to Sayle enterprises and the end
when he was dangling from the building off the cord and when Yassen Gregorovich
came and shot Herrod was the same but not when he flew Alex away.
My highlights were when he used the zit cream on the octopus tank to melt the metal braces to cause it to explode (book.) My best part in the movie was when Yassen hangs upside down and shoots Sayle through the heart and he falls off the building.
I prefer the book over the movie. The movie was more action packed but the script was rubbish. The book was really cool and well written and in my opinion is twenty times better.
It was different in both of them but the book won by miles.

Storm Breaker Review
Storm Breaker
Griping, adventures,
bold in better words mind blowing. The first book in the Alex Rider set. P4
have really been into this book wanting more and more and sadly we have
finished it. Anthony Horowitz has done an awesome job.
Alex Rider a 14 year
old English school boy has fallen into a trap carefully set by MI6 that leads
Alex to his uncles death. Chased by quads with flame throwers cheese wire and
guns. A creepy man that names himself Mr Grin with accomplishment Nadia Vole.
Action packed for thriller surprises.
My Favourite part
is when he launches himself into the museum and rolls through the roof and
sheet plastic and draws out his gun and shoots the prime minister in the hand to
stop him from releasing the smallpox.
I recommend the
gone series if you like this book.

Who am I
I am
Poem
I am crazy
fast with an attitude that bites.
I
wonder about my old life.
I hear
the crack of a whip.
I see
my machete slicing through drake’s torso.
I want
a huge Carl’s Jr burger.
I am
crazy fast with an attitude that bites.
I
pretend to win the Olympics.
I feel the
wind rush past my face and my hair fly. I
touch squirming muddy pieces of drake as he turns to Brittney.
I worry
that my power will be useless as the FAYZ turns black. I
don’t cry I’m Brianna and the Breeze doesn’t cry.
I am crazy
fast with an attitude that bites.
I
understand Little Petey for what he is.
I say the
Gaia phage can be stopped but others think not.
I dream
of the outside world.
I try communicating
with the outside world.
I hope the
FAYZ will come down.
I am crazy
fast with an attitude that bites.

Lava Lamps
We had to make homemade lava lamps in the lab. We poured 1/4 water in a test tube and 3/4 canola oil. We dropped 6 drops of food coloring in and waited for it to sink into the water. As a fizzing tablet we put in 1/4 of a berocca in. A very cool experiment.

A Viscosity Mystery?
Here's our latest science experiment. We were testing the viscosity of a fluid in our case oil. We heated the oil to various degrees to test the viscosity. Here's a graph to show the results.
The hotter the oil the less viscosity theoretically but that was not the case in this test if you have any reason why this happened can you please post a comment thank you.

Science Test
The other day we were in the school lab. We were making lava lamps in test tubes. Our groups idea was using carbonated water for more bubbles. Our hypothesis was that carbonated water would give bigger blobs. We were right the carbonated water erupted right when the berocca tablet touched the water. We used two test tubes with 5 cm of normal water and carbonated water with the rest soy oil with food coloring and a bit of the fizzing tablet. It is an experiment for the whole family. http://www.sciencebob.com/experiments/lavalamp.php

The Hatchet
Over the time of the first term we have been reading the hatchet. It is about a 13 year old boy who's parents have split up and he is left on a plane that happens to be cursed for ever. Little does he know that his life will never be the same. Sinking to the bottom of a lake is not his ideal holiday.
He learns new trades, and skills to survive against all odds is he found...........

Norm Hewitt
On 26th of March
2013 Norm Hewitt came and visited our school he talked about the SPCA and what pets
did to help you through family violence and the companionship they give you. It

Camp Poem
Camp
poem
In
front of me I see a soft pebbly beach.
In
the distance I see a jutting edge waiting for its next victim.
Above
me I see light wispy clouds.
Below
me I see dragonfly’s dancing in the wind.
I
can hear the cicadas song drowned in the lapping waves.
In
the distance I can hear trucks hoking I can feel the soft blowing wind.
I
smell the clean air.
I
feel relaxed at camp.
